Meet Sean Graham, Powerco's customer consultant
Curious about who you speak to when you call our general enquiries line? Meet Sean Graham, one of our customer consultants. Sean joined the Powerco team when we established our customer-facing general enquiries team in 2023.
“We provide guidance and advice to help our customers who call, email or contact us via our website. We try to address customers’ needs in that first interaction whenever we can. When we’re unable to, we work with colleagues across the business to get their query sorted,” says Sean.
During weather events, customers call to report outages and request updates. Outside these times, enquiries range from tree questions through to how to safely disconnect power. During storms, when thousands of customers are without power, it can be back-to-back calls - while at other times there’s time to spend with each customer.
“We do have quieter weeks, which is good because it gives us the opportunity to really connect with our customers, without having to rush to the next call,” he says.
Based in our Wellington office, Sean says it’s easy to take access to power for granted - but when we lose it for any reason, it can be stressful.
“I like being able to help people who are feeling stressed by giving them accurate information and advice - and, hopefully, reassuring them,” he says.
Sean’s top tip for customers is to check the Powerco website.
“Look at our website - it generally has all the information you need. Quite often I’ll ask a customer whether they’ve had an opportunity to visit our site, and they’ll say that’s where they got our phone number from. That means they were only a couple of clicks away from answering their own question,” he says.
