Powerco earns top global sustainability score for third year running
Powerco has once again demonstrated its leadership in sustainability, achieving 100% in the latest GRESB (Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark) Infrastructure Assessment. This marks the third year in a row the electricity distribution business has received the highest possible rating – placing first in its global peer group.
Powerco General Manager Corporate Services Jemma Gerring says the result reflects the company’s commitment to responsible and sustainable operations.
“Achieving a 100% score is an endorsement of our ESG maturity. We are always trying striving to find the right balance between resilience, affordability and sustainability,” says Jemma Gerring.
“The survey requirements evolve each year, so maintaining this level of performance is no small feat. It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of our people across the business.”
GRESB is an independent international organisation that assesses how well real estate and infrastructure companies manage environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.
It is a key tool for Powerco’s Board, investors and stakeholders, providing assurance that the company is operating with integrity and foresight. The score also supports Powerco’s green finance credentials and sustainability reporting.
“It helps us benchmark our progress and identify emerging trends. It’s not just about scoring well - it’s about being ready for the future,” says Jemma Gerring.
Powerco’s survey is submitted under the infrastructure section alongside 805 other organisations from countries around the globe.
Powerco has participated in the survey annually since 2016 (with the exception of 2020 due to COVID-related priorities).
