WISE healthy homes

In 2025, we partnered with WISE to deliver the Healthy Homes Heat Kits in Schools programme across three schools in New Plymouth, reaching approximately 270 students.

Through structured, interactive sessions and hands-on environmental monitoring, students gained practical, real-world understanding of moisture and mould risk, ventilation and indoor air quality, and how to heat their homes efficiently while managing energy use and costs. Teachers consistently praised the programme’s hands-on approach, noting how clearly the content connected to students’ everyday lives.

This initiative is about more than learning in the classroom, it’s about creating lasting change in the home. Students take this knowledge back to their families, building awareness of healthier living environments and more efficient energy use.

By supporting programmes like this across our network, we’re helping empower communities with the knowledge to live in warmer, drier, and more energy-efficient homes,  ultimately supporting better wellbeing and helping reduce household power costs.
