Powerco recognised as global sustainability sector leader
Powerco has once again demonstrated its commitment to sustainability, achieving a five-star rating and reaching Sector Leader status in the latest 2026 Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) Infrastructure Assessment.
The recognition places Powerco among the top-performing infrastructure organisations globally for its approach to managing environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues. For the fourth consecutive year, Powerco achieved the maximum GRESB score of 100.
Powerco General Manager Corporate Services Jemma Gerring says the result reflects the company's ongoing commitment to responsible and sustainable operations.
"Achieving Sector Leader status is a fantastic recognition of the work happening across Powerco to embed sustainability into the way we operate," says Jemma Gerring.
"The assessment requirements will continue to evolve, so maintaining a high level of performance will require our people to maintain a commitment and effort to operating our business sustainably."
GRESB is an independent international organisation that assesses how well real estate and infrastructure companies manage environmental, social and governance issues.
Sector Leader status recognises organisations that achieve the highest scores, or score within one point of the highest performer, in their assessment category.
Powerco's result reflects its governance practices, management and performance across a range of material sustainability categories including health and safety, engagement of customers and employees, emissions reduction planning, transparent sustainability reporting and its approach to managing climate-related risks.
The assessment is also an important tool for Powerco's Board of Directors, investors and stakeholders, providing independent benchmarking of the company's sustainability performance, and supports Powerco's green finance credentials and sustainability reporting.
"Participating in GRESB helps us understand how we're performing against international standards and identify opportunities to keep improving," says Jemma Gerring.
"It's not just about achieving a strong result. It's about making sure we're building a resilient and sustainable business for the future."
Powerco has participated in the GRESB assessment since 2016, with the exception of 2020 due to COVID-related priorities.
