New features now live on Powerco high voltage demand capacity map

We've updated our high-voltage demand capacity map with new features, providing more information to customers planning to connect large-scale loads to the electricity network.

The map shows how much capacity is available to connect new high-voltage load to the existing network – giving commercial, industrial, developer and public EV charging customers early indication of
whether you can connect or will work with us to plan and build additional load to power your operations.

We want to make it easy for large-scale customers to connect with us so we've added two new features to provide more transparency and unlock choice:

  • The seasonal capacity profile shows estimated lowest and highest demand across 24 hours for each season. That’s a useful indication of how demand (and therefore available capacity) changes depending on the time of day and year.
  • The location of our substations are now included to show where key electricity infrastructure is in relation to your site.

The map is the start of a conversation with our team about what your options are, especially if the network is constrained. For example, we may be able to connect your quicker or reduce connection cost by working with you on an arrangement to reduce your electricity use when demand on that part of the network is high.

We encourage you to check the map, and then talk to us early in the planning process.
