Celebrating science success

Powerco is helping Taranaki young people develop a life-long interest in science.

The electricity and gas distribution company was a gold sponsor at the recent WITT Taranaki Science and Technology Fair/Te Whakaaturanga Pūtaiaome Hangarau ki Taranaki, and also sponsored the robotics category.

The fair is a hands-on way to encourage high school students to develop their STEM skills and, potentially, a future career in engineering.

The robotics category comprised a mix of mini, mega, self-driven and remote robots, and received a record number of entries this year.

The fair is just one of the ways Powerco supports Taranaki rangatahi to develop an interest in robotics, with the company having also created its own internal robot games, and supported Charlie Mollard to attend the VEX Robotics World Champs.
