Storm restoration 5pm update

Wednesday, June 15, 2022
Field crews continue to reconnect customers this afternoon following wild weather over the last few days.

As of 4:30pm there are 313 customers still without power, down from 806 this morning.

Manawatū and Whanganui customers are still the largest affected, with 241 and 46 customers still out respectively.

Customers in Taranaki, Thames/Coromandel, Bay of Plenty and Wairarapa are also still affected.

Weather continued to settle through the day, which aided crews in their reconnection efforts.

Crews will be out until 10pm tonight reconnecting as many customers as possible up until the stand down time.

Powerco Head of Network Operations, Caz Haydon says crews are working as quickly and as safely as they can.

“Crews will be working hard up until 10pm tonight, however there’s a possibility some customers may remain off overnight. If that happens, they’ll be back out in the morning to continue work,” she says.

“We’d like to thank everyone still affected for their patience as we work to reconnect them.”
