Flooding causes power cuts
Customers in Whanganui and South Taranaki are without power this morning due to flooding.
Supply to around 4500 properties in Whanganui has been affected because of flooding at a substation.
Powerco Acting Network Operations Manager Dean Stevenson said alternative supply routes would be used where possible.
He said another 360 properties in Whakamara, in South Taranaki, lost power at 11pm last night. A slip on the Tangahoe Valley Road was preventing field crews from accessing the network and making repairs.
“We are waiting for the road to be cleared so we can restore supply to these customers.”
People should contact their energy retailer for information on power cuts or go to Powerco’s faullt page.
