Cleaning up for good

Powerco staff will be donning rubber gloves and rubbish bags this week to help keep their communities beautiful.

As part of the annual Keep New Zealand Beautiful Week, Powerco staff will take time out to clean up the flower beds and pathways at local parks and reserves by collecting litter during one of their breaks.

Fiona Ewing, Powerco Group Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Manager, said it was the third year the company had arranged clean-up events for staff to volunteer in. Each time, more than 80 staff members across the company had collected a vast array of rubbish and recyclable items.

“Powerco works to support the communities in which we operate by being mindful of the needs of others and the environment,” she said.

“With the assistance of the local councils, Powerco ensures that the locations selected for a clean-up will provide a benefit to the community and, at the completion of the event, the collected items are appropriately disposed of.”
