Yes, Powerco owns and maintains the gas pipeline in the road.
Via The Gas Hub, Powerco is responsible for getting the gas pipe from the main in the road to the gas meter installed outside your home.
How do I find out where gas pipes are located?
What do I need a gasfitter for?
Gasfitters are licensed and/or certified tradespeople who install gas appliances and associated gas pipework in and around your house. Any work to install or service gas appliances must be carried out by a licensed gasfitter. New installations or alterations must be certified as compliant by your gasfitter.
What do I need to do to get gas connected to my house?
Connecting to natural gas is easy. Firstly check your property is within the 40m free connection zone by entering your address into The Gas Hub’s handy gas checker tool.
When you’re ready, answer a few questions online and submit to The Gas Hub. The team will get in touch with a few further questions to complete your application.

You can expect your gas connection to be installed in around 20 working days after you’ve accepted the connection offer and terms.
How long will it take for me to get gas connected?
The general rule is to allow 20 working days from the date you’ve accepted the connection offer and terms.
Can I change my energy retailer/billing company after I have been connected?
Yes, switching is commonplace these days. Your new chosen retailer will apply to your existing retailer for a switch.
