Powerco thanks Palmerston North and Manawatu for patience

Tuesday, June 20, 2017

Powerco thanks the residents of Palmerston North and Manawatu for their patience and understanding as street lights get back to normal.

A fault at Transpower’s Bunnythorpe substation had successfully been repaired without affecting power during the weekend, but that had in turn affected the automatic function of some street lights in the Palmerston North and Manawatu area, Powerco Network Operations Manager Phil Marsh said.

While the street lights were expected to be back on automatically by now, there had been some difficulties reinstating the lights to normal function, he said.

“We are running extensive network testing on the plant to ensure a return to normal for tonight. Our staff have been working hard to manually switch on all the street lights but we are asking for resident’s patience as we do this. We know that being without street lights is frustrating for customers and we thank them for their understanding.”

Powerco apologises to the people of Manawatu and Palmerston North for the inconvenience this may have caused.
