Wednesday, June 03, 2015

About 1500 customers in North and Central Taranaki were left without power following lightning strikes on Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.

The storm resulted in numerous small outages where fuses blew due to lightning, Powerco Acting Network Operations Manager Dean Stevenson said.

The areas affected were mainly around Opunake, inland Oakura, Tarata and Lepperton. Power was out for up to three hours for each outage.
