Power cut after car hits pole

Monday, August 18, 2014

More than 450 Powerco customers had their electricity cut when a car hit a power pole on the Morrinsville-Tahuna Rd late yesterday afternoon.

Power went out just after 5pm, with most customers reconnected about an hour later, Powerco Acting Network Operations Manager Dean Stevenson said.

The remaining 100 customers’ power was restored about 4am today, once the power pole had been replaced, he said.

Affected areas included Morrinsville, Tahuna, Mangateparu and Tauhei in Eastern Waikato.
