Power Supply Restored in Coromandel Update

20:30hrs. Power supply has now been restored to 12,500 consumers in and around Tairua, Whitianga and Coromandel township following an outage on Powerco's network around 3.50pm today
Powerco Network Operations Manager Phil Marsh said engineers had worked through the afternoon and into the night dark to repair the fault on a 66,000 volt feeder line.
“Power was restored to about 7,000 consumers by 8.00pm and to the remaining 5,500 consumers by 8.30pm,” Mr Marsh said.
Powerco is New Zealand’s second largest electricity and gas distribution utility with around 400,000 consumers connected to its networks. Powerco’s electricity networks are in Tauranga, Thames, Coromandel, Eastern and Southern Waikato, Taranaki, Wanganui, Rangitikei, Manawatu and the Wairarapa. Its gas pipeline networks are in Taranaki, Hutt Valley, Porirua, Wellington, Horowhenua, Manawatu and Hawke’s Bay.
